Shadow of woman standing behind door frosted glass

Why do we stare at closed doors? These doors were obviously shut for a reason. Why do we beg and plead with God to change His mind when the answer is obvious? Why do we waste seasons and time in the same position waiting for a different result while life is happening all around us?

Well, if you’re anything like me, you have probably done all of this at some point in your life. As I was pondering and meditating on these things, I believe I got some very clear direction from the Holy Spirit deep in the core of my heart. We all know too well that His wisdom is infinite and nothing else compares, so please allow me to share with you the lessons I’ve learned.

God is looking for yielded spirits but, in our place and time, submission to anyone is a daily struggle for the flesh.  I believe the Lord is showing us that our will has more precedence over His will for our lives but it is the Lord’s will for our lives that opens doors. Many today in the body are standing at closed doors. We look at a door without understanding and we ask why it is shut. The answer was simple. It was not His will to open it. Many are wasting seasons of their lives standing at closed doors.

If it is not His will to open that door, our countless prayers of begging and pleading will not open it. Too many times we are going our own way because we believe and think that our ways are better than His and maybe God just doesn’t understand us. So there we go, heading in our own direction waiting for the Lord to bless what we want rather than walking in what He wants for our lives!  When we do this, we go without His peace. (“My peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled…”) We should always follow His peace. When His peace is not there, neither should we be. Our hearts become troubled when we are out of the will of God.

So I leave you with this:  Why do we waste precious time standing at doors that God has closed and hoping that He will change His mind and give us what we want?  That equals wasted seasons stuck in the same place that we should have moved on from a long time ago. If He has closed a door, or His peace has left our heart about a situation, we need to remind ourselves that He will always have the best plan and purpose for our lives, even when it’s beyond our understanding. Follow His peace.
