That’s a pretty broad description and your job is going to look different depending on who you are. That is why the first thing you’ll need to do is identify your work. Where are you now mentally, physically, emotionally? Where do you want to be? What are your blind spots? Write them down then use the rest of these tips as tools to reach your ideal self.

2. Read

What are you passionate about? What do you want to learn? The art of unburying your soul is as easy as opening a book that inspires you. Put down the phone and pick up a tool to excavate your passion. Not sure where to start or which book to choose? Refer back to those notes you took earlier. what are you are hoping to uncover in your journey of self improvement? If you are searching to expand your imagination, try fiction. If you are looking to enhance your knowledge, pick up an educational book that draws your interest. Whatever you choose, make it a stepping stone to a higher version of you.

It is estimated that the average adult makes around 35,000 decisions in a day. That sounds Stressful! Routine can help you narrow down some of those unnecessary decisions and reduce stress. Eliminating decisions and giving yourself room to breathe frees up mental and emotional energy. There are several different areas in your life which you can create routine. Some ideas are exercise, eating habits, alone time or even technology breaks.

4. Connect With People

Wait I thought this was about me? Well it is, but one of the best ways to learn and to grow is to draw insight from others. Everyone has a story to tell and every person you meet knows something that you don’t. Expand your network, but don’t do it in pursuit of career success. Do it out of the desire to diversify your knowledge and ability to relate to other people. Get coffee with a friend, introduce yourself to a stranger. People help us grow, give us perspective, and teach us new things.

5. Rest

You have a lot of hard work to do at your new job but another part of your job is allowing yourself time to rest and recover from a job well done. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is give yourself time to soak in all you have learned and the progress you have made. How do you clear your mind and relax? Spend time alone or watch a movie with friends. Whatever you do, don’t forget to incorporate rest into your new routine.
