Sometimes, when we go through trials, we really start to wonder if God even listens to us sometimes, and we start having our doubts, because we’re not seeing answers quickly that we want. First of all, timing is everything. God’s timing isn’t our timing. His timing is perfect, and sometimes it can be hard to wait, But He knows everything, and he has the perfect plan for our life, so we need to trust that He has everything in His hands. Is this easy? Absolutely not. Sometimes it’s easier said than done, but if we’re always in the word and putting our hope in him, everything will fall into place.
If we start to speak negatively, and our thoughts become negative, that’s not trusting our Savior – it’s having doubt in Him. As it says in James 1:6, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” Let’s not be tossed by the wind, but let’s instead be like a palm tree. Palm trees are one of the strongest trees, no matter what kind of storm happens, the palm tree will bend all the way to the ground, just about touching it, but it never breaks, and once the storm has come and gone it stands right back up again and has its strength. That’s how God made them, and if God loves palm trees enough to create them so they don’t break, imagine how much God loves you. That’s how we ought to be as Christians; no matter what comes our way, we shouldn’t let it get in our way. Stand back up again and let’s fight this battle. We can overcome everything with Jesus Christ, we just have to be in the right mindset!
God sometimes is testing our faith, if everything all the time was just easy, we would never have to have faith, and if we didn’t have our faith and hope we wouldn’t be growing, we would always stay the same in our walk, and God doesn’t want that. He wants us to grow deeper and stronger in Him, and to be able to trust Him more and more.
So even right now if you feel God isn’t listening to your prayers – you feel defeated, you feel He’s left you – I’m telling you now, my friend, that’s the enemy and you need to overcome that, because the enemy has been defeated and nothing will hold you down. This is just a season you’re going through, keep pushing, and don’t give up. Keep your head in the word, and He will speak to you. You might feel like you’re in this drought – you’re very weak, you’re tired, you haven’t seen God do anything in your life for the past few months – but I’m telling you, this is just momentary. It’s a season; droughts don’t last forever, soon enough there has to be a breaking point where sunshine comes and your trial will become a testimony. You will be victorious, instead of the victim, the head and not the tail. But the question is: are you willing to trust enough in Him to see your outcome? Don’t give up, and I’ll leave you with this: If you want to see the clouds open up, you have to have expectancy!
