Downtown Greenville – Must-See Places on Main St.

Parallel parking can be found along parts of Main Street, but we parked at the garage attached to the Hyatt Regency, which was $7 for the day.

Our first stop was Mast General Store, a classic, downtown Greenville staple, full of outdoor gear, old country store treasures, and Greenville swag.

For the coffee addict, we recommend Methodical Coffee Downtown or Coffee Underground, but if you prefer ice cream, Kilwins and Marble Slab Creamery are our favorites. For an expert view on the coffee scene in Greenville, check out the Top 5 Best Coffee Shops in Greenville.

We popped into River Street Sweets for their world famous pralines, and to show my North Carolina gal a taste of Savannah, Georgia.

Continuing south down Main Street we visited the sweetest bookstore – M. Judson Booksellers – complete with a café, that has cabinets made out of books! Their employees’ top picks are showcased throughout the bookstore, but we unashamedly spent most of our time in the nostalgic, children’s book nook.

The Peace Center is a perfect spot to support the arts, and while we didn’t take advantage of this beautiful venue last weekend, we hope to attend Frozen, a part of Broadway is Back!, in April.

Lunch and Shopping in Downtown Greenville

After crossing the Reedy River, we stopped for a lunch at Papi’s Tacos, and sat along the Swamp Rabbit Trail with a gorgeous view of the river.

After lunch we continued down Main Street to complete a very important errand – lululemon. We spent our time trying on leggings to find the best, most amazing leggings ever, to then order online using a gift card in the quiet of our own home.

On another day we would have taken a stroll around Falls Park on the Reedy and visited Spill the Beans, the perfect combination of ice cream and coffee shop, but we had one final, very important goal to complete: cookies.

Finishing our Greenville day trip

We crossed back over the Reedy River to try Insomnia Cookie, who makes allergy sensitive and vegan options – the highlight of our evening. After we finished eating our cookies and taking photos in front of this iconic mural, we reversed our steps down Main Street, imagining what it would be like to live in the city, and ended our journey where we started.

That’s a wrap on our day in downtown Greenville! We want to visit again someday soon and we hope you do, too, and that these 10 must-see places in Downtown Greenville were helpful in planning your perfect day trip.
